Apparently, though, Megumi exists only to lose money by giving it all away in the form of fabulous gifts to its readership. Each issue of Megami Magazine ("the Anime & Bishoujo Game Character information magazine") features tons and tons of free stuff, including wonderful posters (there are *13* two-sided color posters in vol. 11, in front of me), telephone cards, punch out "character stands," stickers and more. The quality of printing and artwork in this wonderful magazine, which focuses on cute girls from anime and bishoujo games, cannot be overstated. You can expect to get your fill of such popular anime/game series as Clannad, Lucky Star, Haruhi Suzumiya, Gurren Lagann, Code Geass, School Days, Evangelion, Sekirei, Kanokon, Ikki Tousen, Da Capo II, Gunslinger Girls, Girls Avenue, Mai Hime, Strike Witches, Zero no Tsukaima, To Love-ru, and more -- you will not be let down by this amazing magazine at all. Welcome to the most challenging and rewarding course Manga University has ever offered. We're going to take you deep inside the world of yojijukugo, four-kanji expressions that make up some of the best-known and loved Japanese idioms. These include gems like "kill two birds with one stone," "time is money" and many more!

"A brilliant idea!" says Professor Ronald A. Morse of the Japan Studies Department at the University of Las Vegas, Nevada. "Japanese kanji the written symbols adapted from Chinese were originally drawings of images from real life. Japanese comic books and cartoons now provide fresh images to help us learn. Kanji de Manga uses today's manga images to make the kanji learning process fun and easy for otaku of all ages. This is a brilliant approach to learning the language."

Features 80 Japanese idioms, each accompanied by a full english explanation, kanji breakdown, example sentence, and a charming and original manga drawing by Chihiro Hattori.

Created by Glenn Kardy, editor of several volumes in the popular How to Draw Manga series, including Getting Started, the first book of its kind to be used at major universities in the United States (UCLA) and Japan (Waseda). Artwork by Chihiro Hattori, niece of legendary manga artist Eichi Fukui. Features a foreword by Tomonori Morikawa, Professor of International Studies at Waseda University, Tokyo.

Important: Use of this book requires knowledge of hiragana and katakana, the Japanese phonetic alphabets, which are taught in the book Kana de Manga. If you don't already know how to read and write kana, we recommend you start with that book first.

"I shall give thee all kinds of dark ecstasy..."

Count Georik Zaberisk builds a sterling reputation as the head Royal Physician tending to the King of Hardland. However, the poor health of his frail sister, Lillith, drives him to resign from his post and retire to the countryside where he lives the charmed life of nobility. One day, while Georik is away, Lillith is accused and tried for witchcraft by an angry mob of villagers -- her head is chopped off and her body burned! Somehow Georik manages to secure Lillith’s head and to his amazement finds that she is still alive, and Georik is consumed with a desire to make Lillith whole again. Georik learns of the homunculi, who use alchemy. However, the Kingdom of Hardland had outlawed witchcraft and alchemy long ago. Georik is forced to delve into the banned world of alchemy in order to help his sister.

A fantastic gothic horror game extremely popular in Japan, which brings a world of decadence and ecstasy alive for you. Fully translated into English for your enjoyment!

This is a dating-sim style interactive game for standard Windows computers. Great for fans of yaoi and Japan's amazing bishounen artistic themes. And compatible with both Windows PCs and Macintosh computers running OS X!

Count Georik Zaberisk
After curing Princess Sylvie of a serious illness, he was assigned the position of Royal Physician, but his sister Lillith’s poor health forces him to retreat to their country villa in Geutrink.
Lillith Zaberisk
Lillith also has a mischievous bent and enjoys teasing St. Germant when he comes to visit. Her playful banter gets the better of her though, when she is tried as a witch and her body burned.
Count St. Germant
Hardland’s greatest inventor and the realm’s Secretary of Science and Technology. He is under constant protection to see that his safety is not jeopardized, but he cavorts around the nation with nary a care. When St. Germant learns that his betrothed Lillith has died, he cannot hide his despondency.
Viscount Michael Ramphet
With a biting wit and a proud personality, he is inevitably surrounded by enemies. He is full of confidence that he is the strongest swordsman in the kingdom and has risen to the position of Captain of the Royal Guard.
Bruno Glening
He is in charge of the health of palace inhabitants and is well informed about everyone's condition -- not just the King. The truth behind his appointment to the position of Royal Physician is that he has been commissioned by the King for his skills as an alchemist to develop an immortality elixir.
Timothy Riari
A youth that Georik meets on a journey and brings to Kamazene. As kids are wont to be, although he hates to have his activities interfered with, he often acts full of himself when talking to Georik, but comes to him when in need. He is convinced that those he comes into contact meet with tragedy.
Hardland the 3rd
The King of the Realm. Very passionate and taken with what is right in front of him. On the surface, he has banned witchcraft and alchemy, but in the basement of the castle he has men working on an immortality elixir to make him King for a millennium.
Sylvie Hardland
A Princess with a mind of her own. She pretends to obey her father, but she has a noble heart and is determined to expose those that wish her father ill. She likes to make life difficult for Maryn -- but she's protective of him at the same time. She is secretly in love with Georik, but she has abandoned hope of realizing her love because of their difference in status.
Maryn
Diligent and loyal, Maryn looks out for Sylvie. She is constantly struggling to get the strong willed Sylvie to act more ladylike. Though a studious person, she also has a bent for keeping her eyes peeled for the next dapper gent to appear and a soft spot for him when he does, which never ceases to drive Sylvie to distraction. She secretly has a crush on the Captain of the Royal Guard, Mikhail.
Jan Van Ruthberg
Ruthberg is a mysterious man that excels at fortune telling and as a medium channeling spirits. He also runs a suspect shop called The Golden Goose, that at a glance looks nothing more than a rundown old shop, but is actually the major store supplying implements for magic and alchemy to select customers.
Francis Dashwood
He serves Count Sandwich and is tasked with collecting the debt that Georik owes his master. He is obsessed with money. He is also a member of The Hell-Fire Club and always turns out for Black Mass and witch trials.
Mephostophilis
Formerly a leading angel figure in Heaven that, upon falling to Hell became the devil known as the Prince of Hell. His name itself means "one who hates light." He keeps himself near Georik, always tempting him. He is a persuasive, cunning and beautiful devil.

In Japan, hanko (name stamps) are used in lieu of signing your name as the way of signifying agreement, and the culture of these stamps has always been fascinating to gaijin unfamiliar with Japanese ways. Now you can get any kanji name you want on your very own Japanese name stamp. This is a quality stamp made of wood with any custom name or message you want on it, which will be a great connection to you and Japan. This name stamp is also legally able to be used in Japan (just register it with your local city office).

You can choose between 1-6 kanji, hiragana or katakana characters, and the Japanese staff of J-List will be happy to help you choose the best character for what you want to express. This type of stamp is usually used for names, and there are multiple approaches foreigners can take when choosing a name. Here are three examples:

This is an example of a name in katakana, the Japanese writing system used for foreign words and names. It says "Payne."Kanji can be chosen based on their pronunciation, too. In this case we're using the "peh" sound from Peking ("North Capital") and the "in" sound from the Buddhist temple Byodoin near Kyoto. There are ways of choosing kanji based on meaning, called ateji or forcing a reading on a character. For example, "Payne" comes from the French pan (bread), the name could be written with a character (archaic in this case) for bread.

This stamp can also be used to express your favorite character or concept, from love (ai) to sincerity (makoto) to a wacky message you'd like to create, as long as it can fit within the character limit for this stamp. After adding this item to your shopping cart you can type comments to the J-List staff and we'll verify the characters you want before finalizing the order. We also humbly request to include a pronunciation guide for all unique spelling of names.

Since the stamps are custom made by a company here in Japan, please allow 2-4 weeks for your name stamp to be made, prior to the shipping date.
