Included in this 42 minute collection are shorts directed by Hayao Miyazaki, Yoshifumi Kondou, Yoshiyuki Momose, Osamu Tanabe, Shinji Hashimoto, and Takeshi Inamura, and feature not only new characters, but familiar characters from Totoro, Spirited Away, Grave of the Fireflies, and more. The styles of the shorts vary as well, sometimes simple, sometimes rich, and sometimes experimental, these 42 minutes are fascinating animation from start to finish. Directed by Hiroyuki Morita and based loosely on the manga Baron - Neko No Danshaku by Aoi Hiragi, it serves as an unofficial sequel to Whisper of the Heart, including many of the same characters from the cat world. Softer in tone and pace than many of the other Ghibli titles such as Mononoke Hime or Porco Rosso, it is still a Ghibli film in heart and spirit. Captivating, funny, and a treat for audiences who enjoy storylines over violence and action. Filmed in wide-screen, 16:9 format, The Cat Returns has optional Mandarin, Cantonese, English and Japanese subtitles. Included with The Cat Returns is a hilarious look at childhood days of the main character who works at an animation studio with a suspiciously similar name. It is through these remembrances of her youth that she comes to understand herself and her own future. Beautifully animated as only the masters at Studio Ghibli can, this film will enthrall audiences with its special blend of animation magic. Of course it's a visual masterpiece, easily the most beautiful animation you've ever seen from Mr. Miyazaki to date. We highly recommend this excellent film to all fans of Studio Ghibli, and are extremely glad to be able to offer it to you! The film features subtitles in English, French and Japanese, and dubbed soundtrack in French and Japanese. The film is provided on 2 DVDs and features many extras, as with all Studio Ghibli's DVD film releases.

The characters are well produced, each one having their own inner conflicts that they must face, and show how they depend on each other's strengths to survive the adventures to come. | | | It is the 23rd century, and the human race inhabits the moon. The outpost of humanity, the Lunar Republic of Eden, is rigidly managed by the guidance council, an intricately functioning body which assures its citizenry tranquil lives of peace and security. While on a community service outing on the moon surface, Takeru discovers a photograph of a girl living on Earth a place that was rendered barren after the Colossal freeport fell to the surface and triggered the Great Calamity 100 years before. His heart stolen by this girl, Takeru recruits his friend Kazuma on an outmoded Lunar Maintenance LTV into restricted space where the Earth can be viewed. The barren surface of the moon seems endless, but finally they cross the edge of a giant crater and a stunning sight comes into view. One look at the brilliant, blue Earth suspended in the blackness of outer space and everything they were taught about the dead mother word is turned on its head. Furthermore, the crater is cluttered with photographs, including one with a message that says "Earth is Well," setting Takeru on a wild adventure to discover the truth about Earth.
A wonderful collaboration of Katsuhiro Otomo (of Akira and Steamboy Fame), Bandai Visual and Nissin Cup Noodle, "Freedom" boasts wonderful animation and special effects that zaps you into the universe where the Earth is left as being uninhabitable and the rest of humanity now call the moon their home. This is a 4 set Blu-Ray collection that features episodes 1-7 in the series, with plenty of special features, including the Nissin Cup Noodle TV - CM. The theme song "This is Love" is performed by the famous Utada Hikaru which makes this an extra worthy purchase for all J-pop fans. This boxed set also comes with a 28 page illustration book.
