| In the world known as Earthsea, there is a disturbance in the balance of life. Magic is losing its power, crops failing, live stock are dying and two dragons appear to devour each other, a sign that the balance of the world is falling apart. The archemage (greatest of all wizards) named Ged (aka Sparrowhawk) sets out for a journey to discover the reason for this imbalance, leading him to Arran, an exiled prince constantly running from a shadow that fills him with fear. This leads them to a town filled with corruption where addicts walk the streets, and slaves are traded, eventually leading Ged to discover that Cob, an old defeated adversary seeks to open a realm between the living and the dead to exact his revenge.
Gedo Senki (aka Ged's War or Tales from Earthsea) is a film loosely based on the third novel The Farthest Shore of the Earthsea series by Ursula K. Le Guin and is Goro Miyazaki's (the son of the Hayao Miyazaki) directorial debut. The characters are well produced, each one having their own inner conflicts that they must face, and show how they depend on each other's strengths to survive the adventures to come. With the help of the talented Studio Ghibli animation studios, Tales from Earthsea becomes another masterpiece worthy of your collection.
