Spice and Wolf is a recent anime that is receiving a lot of positive reviews. Originally a set of light novels written by Isuna Hasekura and published by Mediaworks, it quickly gained popularity working its way into dating sim games for the Nintendo DS, T anime, and soon an OVA series. The story is about a traveling merchant named Craft Lawrence who visits a village that once made a pact with the wolf god named Horo, to insure good wheat harvests year after year. Due to advancing technology however, their dependence on Horo is dwindling. Craft finds a young girl, who reveals herself to be Horo in human form (who appears to be a huge hit among the guys) and allows her to tag along. From Kotobukiya, here's a wonderful PVC rendition of the beautiful Horo in a 1/8th scale figure. Count Georik Zaberisk builds a sterling reputation as the head Royal Physician tending to the King of Hardland. However, the poor health of his frail sister, Lillith, drives him to resign from his post and retire to the countryside where he lives the charmed life of nobility. One day, while Georik is away, Lillith is accused and tried for witchcraft by an angry mob of villagers -- her head is chopped off and her body burned! Somehow Georik manages to secure Lillith’s head and to his amazement finds that she is still alive, and Georik is consumed with a desire to make Lillith whole again. Georik learns of the homunculi, who use alchemy. However, the Kingdom of Hardland had outlawed witchcraft and alchemy long ago. Viscount Michael Ramphet With a biting wit and a proud personality, he is inevitably surrounded by enemies. He is full of confidence that he is the strongest swordsman in the kingdom and has risen to the position of Captain of the Royal Guard.

Sylvie Hardland A Princess with a mind of her own. She pretends to obey her father, but she has a noble heart and is determined to expose those that wish her father ill. She likes to make life difficult for Maryn -- but she's protective of him at the same time. She is secretly in love with Georik, but she has abandoned hope of realizing her love because of their difference in status.
Maryn Diligent and loyal, Maryn looks out for Sylvie. She is constantly struggling to get the strong willed Sylvie to act more ladylike. Though a studious person, she also has a bent for keeping her eyes peeled for the next dapper gent to appear and a soft spot for him when he does, which never ceases to drive Sylvie to distraction. She secretly has a crush on the Captain of the Royal Guard, Mikhail.
Jan Van Ruthberg Ruthberg is a mysterious man that excels at fortune telling and as a medium channeling spirits. He also runs a suspect shop called The Golden Goose, that at a glance looks nothing more than a rundown old shop, but is actually the major store supplying implements for magic and alchemy to select customers.
Francis Dashwood He serves Count Sandwich and is tasked with collecting the debt that Georik owes his master. He is obsessed with money. He is also a member of The Hell-Fire Club and always turns out for Black Mass and witch trials.
Mephostophilis Formerly a leading angel figure in Heaven that, upon falling to Hell became the devil known as the Prince of Hell. His name itself means "one who hates light." He keeps himself near Georik, always tempting him. He is a persuasive, cunning and beautiful devil.

Burst Angel (Bakuretsu Tenshi) will certainly know the name of Ugetsu Hakua, a character designer whose style and gift for cybernetic type technology ranks him among Range Murata and "lain" designer Yoshitoshi ABe. Also the illustrator behind such works as "Dear My Ghost," "Hot Gimmick" Ugetsu is an accomplished illustrator, as evidence in hist first artbook entitled Flamboyant. Inside this full color deluxe artbook you'll find beautiful works of art and quality, in the same vein as Murata's "Robot" manga series. With a special knack for fantast and cyberpunk, Ugestu is able to blend the organic with the mechanical, sometimes entering Shirow Masumune territory. Colorful and bold, his illustrations and character designs also have an erotic appeal. Included are some sketches, a few illustrations shown "in development" to show the process, and a separate card with commentary about every one of the finished illustrations (a good idea as you can see the full color illustration and commentary at the same time that way -- usually the commentary is at the end of the book). The perfectbound book and card have a slipcase to preserve it. This is an excellent artbook for cyberpunk and Robot fans in a thoughtfully presented package. The first page folds out into a pull-out style poster. 8.25 x 11.56" (21 x 29 cm).
