Burst Angel (Bakuretsu Tenshi) will certainly know the name of Ugetsu Hakua, a character designer whose style and gift for cybernetic type technology ranks him among Range Murata and "lain" designer Yoshitoshi ABe. Also the illustrator behind such works as "Dear My Ghost," "Hot Gimmick" Ugetsu is an accomplished illustrator, as evidence in hist first artbook entitled Flamboyant. Inside this full color deluxe artbook you'll find beautiful works of art and quality, in the same vein as Murata's "Robot" manga series. With a special knack for fantast and cyberpunk, Ugestu is able to blend the organic with the mechanical, sometimes entering Shirow Masumune territory. Colorful and bold, his illustrations and character designs also have an erotic appeal. Included are some sketches, a few illustrations shown "in development" to show the process, and a separate card with commentary about every one of the finished illustrations (a good idea as you can see the full color illustration and commentary at the same time that way -- usually the commentary is at the end of the book). The perfectbound book and card have a slipcase to preserve it. This is an excellent artbook for cyberpunk and Robot fans in a thoughtfully presented package.
