About this product:
Anyone who has ever been to Tokyo or seen the virtual wave upon wave of crowds might have a hard time shaking the image of Tokyo being a constantly crowded city. Even when the word "Tokyo" is heard, we think of nearly impenetrable foot traffic, bumper-to-bumper intersections... a tranquil and empty Tokyo is so unthinkable that it's almost apocalyptic -- which makes this photobook by Masataka Nakano all the more startling. In these photos, we are presented with a Tokyo few people have seen: a the streets are deserted, not a single human being can be seen. Page after page we are presented with cityscapes in which we feel there must be at least one passerby -- from the classy shopping district of Ginza to the bustling nightlife district of Roppongi to Shinjuku Station (considered the busiest train station in the world) yet nary a soul to be seen. We are treated to rare glimpses of a Tokyo without people, and one can't help but feel an awesome wonder when looking at this book. An incredible photobook that is not only a look at one of the most interesting cities in the world but also presented in a new way that few have seen, if only for a moment. 10.5" x 8" Softcover, perfectbound, a great coffee table item!
